Why Choose Applewood Gallery?
Words of advice from FACTS (Fine Art Care and Treatment
Standards organization):It simply is not enough to pick
your
frame shop from the phone book, or make your decision
based upon price alone. Custom framing involves more
than
just a frame, glass and mats. When choosing a framer
ask about materials and practices; ask about preservation
framing, training and professional associations. A diploma
or certificate is not necessarily a guarantee of quality;
experience is the best teacher. Keep in mind that custom
framing is just that - designed and built to your specifications,
in accordance with standards that will protect your
artwork for years to come. All materials and techniques
used at Applewood Gallery meet or exceed FACTS standards
for conservation and preservation. For more information
on FACTS please visit www.artfacts.org.
Applewood Gallery is a member of the Damron
C. Owens chapter of the Professional Picture Framers
Association (PPFA). PPFA is the international trade/educational
association for the art and framing industry representing
more than 3,000 custom picture framers, art galleries,
manufacturers and distributors. The association provides
its members with educational workshops, marketing support
and education. In 2004, Applewood Gallery owner Kassandra
Ulchar earned the Certified Picture Framer (CPF) designation
from PPFA.
We also support and follow the guidelines set forth by
the Fine Art Care and Standards (FACTS). FACTS' mission
is to "improve the care of artwork and keepsakes through
education, research and consensus standards." FACTS is
about communication, education, and information and sets
the standards for professional framers on the types of
glazing, matboard, mounting & finishing techniques
that should be used in professional custom picture framing.
